I am about to start reading Introduction to Computer Mathematics and Computer Gamesmanship and I thought, hey, it would be great if other people were reading it with me. So, here's an idea for discussion : The GDN Book Club.

I am willing to buy books and send them to you if we all read and discuss them together. Here's how it will work :

• I announce that a group reading is about to start.
• You volunteer to be a part of the reading.
• I make sure there's an actual group, then I order the books and send them to you.
• When you receive the book, you let me know.
• After all people have received their books, the reading starts.
• Each day a chapter or section to be read will be posted.
• The next day, that chapter or section will be discussed.

And that's it. Let me know what you think. —hartnell

Hmmm. I do like the concept of a book club like this. To discuss and learn as a group. It's a great idea.

I just wondering about the costs to you to get those books you'll be sending us. This might amount some substantial amounts. If you get where I'm going. :-).

I wonder if there wouldn't be a different way to do this that wouldn't mean you have to get 2, 4 or 10 books out of your pockets, plus shipping.

But the idea of a book club like this is pure brilliance. :-)

The proof of concept will use a freely available book, so no cost to me to try it. In the beginning, I'll be getting older books like the one mentioned. The books were less than 1 buck and the shipping 3. If it continues to go well, I'll see what I can do. It's got to get off the ground before I start worrying about 50 USD books for each person.

As far as shipping, I'm sure the person can locate the book at a seller in his country, which I will pay for. :) —hartnell

I would have done this but in France I don't think we can buy them books, its a country thing like some people from other countries won't be able to get the same books.

I agree with Ishtem, I for one am from Bulgaria (Eastern Europe) and finding such a book here is like a miracle!

I just read this :) (Better late then never). I'm always fond of free books and one can never aquire too much knowledge (in my opinion). But my problem is that i cannot be online every day, I think it would work better meeting once every week. That way one can read the section/chapter when one has time.
