How many data types are there? Would it be useful to have a section which acts as a dictionary of data types, or, should this be built into the computer science section?
To have a dictionary would be quite useful!! It could be setup like:
(data_type) (Languages used in) Definition…….
That would be a useful reference!
By the way, I took a gander at the "List all pages" and, "Holy super-knowledgebase, Batman!" I also noticed that this site is number 2 on wikidot! Congratulations on a job well done!
In theory there are infinitely many datatypes. These are usually classified into primitives and composite. The primitives in my opinion are void/unit (not in BASIC afaik), booleans, characters, the integer types like long and short, real number types like double and float, and strings.
Other then that, we end up with lists, functions, pointers, all the built in types (which in Java becomes every object available in Java), all the user defined types, etc. An endless list.
