Articles
So you read "part" of them coming with no background and less than at least an armchair familiarity with psychology. Consider the "article/study" issue dead here.
PTSD
What relevance does this have to this debate? For this to be relevant you have to prove :
- The so-called video game exists
- The so-called video game is an accepted practice and not experimental.
- The so-called video game is a video game in the traditional sense of the word.
- The so-called video game is used in the way you describe.
- The so-called video game makes people who have PTSD more violent
- The majority of the video game playing market has PTSD and therefore this isn't a bizarre special case.
As far as video games having an effect on people, well, what can I say. I think you're arguing nothing. I may be moved to tears by the death of Aeris in FF7. So what? This article is about the claim that video games have the supernatural ability to MAKE people do things. Please see the part about the Teacup Killer in the actual article above.
Safe Society
So clearly I am not parroting anyone's opinion. I am quite capable of thinking for myself.
Have you considered there's no real science behind what you are saying? And if so, then why are you still making these claims? If you want to discuss this further, please, include REAL evidence.
Maybe you believe that only Mark Foley (no idea who it is) and Michael Jackson are concerned about other people's children.
Tell me, what reason should anyone want to be concerned with other people's children? See Mark Foley
Even if that is the case, people might want a safe society to live in and by mere selfishness are concerned with what people do with their children.
Wait, to properly raise my child, I'm going to have to force my opinions of how to do it down someone else's throat? BS.
I'm not saying that computer games are creating monsters here, I'm pointing out why people are concerned.
You have completely failed to make a case. Where is the EVIDENCE? Where's this large amount of rebellion and murderous glee we're supposed to be seeing from my generation and one's after it? For people to be concerned, there has to be a SIGNIFICANT percent of these people going on murderous sprees. So where is this large increase in violence? Remember, one or two cases is not EVIDENCE. Just because one mother drowned her kids for a "god" doesn't mean a significant percentage of mothers will. I am directly challenging you - Where is the rise in violence?
Psychology
Ah, see, you may finally get it.
Occult science was also noted in the dictionary as "of a nature not understood, as physical quantities" and the dealing of such qualities.
This describes psychology perfectly. Psychology is not neuroscience. The difference is very important to understand. Neuroscience is a hard science while psychology is a "soft" science. Neuroscience opens up and directly looks at how the brain operates. Psychology puts someone on a couch, pokes them and makes up stories about how an "inner man" is responsible for behavior. The brain is a big mystery we are working on understanding it. So what do you think is a real science? The one working with real brain matter or the people making up stories based on poking people with sticks. You didn't look up B.F. Skinner did you? Also, I think it's interesting that psychology is often still grouped under philosophy. I wonder why.
I directly challenge you to answer this question :
Was psychology a "real science" when Freud was coming up with wild tales about the Id and it's friends? What about when Jung was knee-deep in mysticism?
To answer your implicit response, no, physics was not a real science when Aristotle was talking about the "jubilation of bodies".
