Does character design really matter?
I'd say it depends on the game you're making. If you're going for a serious game that hopes to have an interesting storyline and partly depends on that, then you'd want good characters to help add to that. But if you're making some random game where all that matters is the fun (say, something like TrackDown or that style of gameplay) then I don't think anyone cares about storyline/characters.
Uh… Master Chief.
Master Cheif could have easily have been :
I have to ask. Does the character give more to that game then e.g. the Doom character? Does Master Chief make the game more immersive? I haven't played Halo very much myself, so i was wandering if anyone (who plays) feels a greater sense of attachment or a higher feeling of realism by this character?
Please satisfy my eager-to-learn mind :)
Well, the general "story" behind the Master Chief:
He's a genetically engineered Cyborg (nicknamed a SPARTAN), the last left after an attack on the planet being used to produce them. The rest is just you fighting a heap of aliens. :)
Ultimately, the MC doesn't add anything to the story. But he is a cool guy. :)
