I just thought I'd post here and say hi to everyone. Like a lot of other people here, I'd also like to be a games programmer. I've been working in audio visual for 3 years now and have saved up enough to go to university and do a 2 year course which I'm hoping to start next year. But I'm trying to give myself a head start by learning as much as I can first.
I have a working knowledge of qbasic, and have started using freebasic instead in the past few days. I know a little C#, not enough to make a game or do anything more exciting than calculate things, pop up boxes of text and data the user has entered, but it's a start.
My first project (after I get more of the syntax down) is gonna be a breakout clone, then a text adventure, then a top-down RPG, plus I'd like to get some basic 3D graphics going, something along the lines of what this guy has done here:
Thanks in advance for everyone's help, you can bet there will be a bunch of questions coming your way, and once I know enough I hope I can return the favor.
