Is a strategy RPG really an RPG? —hartnell
Would Warsong 2 (or Langrisser II) count?
Er, I'll look into them. Must sleep very soon. —hartnell
As you know, I didn't get to sleep and forgot all about this topic. Sorry. I haven't had time to look into those but a strategy RPG is an RPG where the battles are run like a battle simulation, like chess, but will all the RPG stats and spells and such.

So basically Turn Based Strategy games but with RPG stats… yeah, I'd say they're RPGs. I guess they're a bit of a stretch of the concept, but if they still have stats and all that I'd say it is.
But at that point don't they just become strategy games? This not a put down to the genre, as RPGs have a history in strategy games. It's why a series of adventures is called a "campaign" and a setting a "campaign setting", just like it is with war games. —hartnell
Well, I don't see anything wrong with something being both a strategy and an RPG at the same time. :P
