GDN Theme

I've acquired much skill in creating themes since I was last active and I think it's time that GDN gets it's own theme. Any ideas? I will be able to work on it after I finish the theme for ASCII-World and having an idea ready will help the theme get developed faster.

I'm not really an expert with themes, but I would at least say that block colours is generally a no-no, at least to me they look ugly. A picture related to Game Design for the logo up the top would be nice, I think one similar to the GDN logo (with the spaceship and skull, and the pixel grid overlay) could suit, I like that logo. As for the sidebar and the page backgrounds, that would kind of depend on what kind of colours are in the top logo, I'd reckon.

I think that the Transformers Theme looks really good and a similar Layout should be made for GDN.

I've created four new wikis for developing themes. ThemeLab1 currently contains the general purpose themekit : themekit-webbish-matrix. ThemeLab3 and ThemeLab4 are empty.

ThemeLab2 (http://themelab2.wikidot.com/) is where I will be developing the custom GDN theme. First thing's first I guess, let me dig out the logo. In the meantime, please think of ways to modify what you see at ThemeLab2.

Well, I'm guessing that the current theme for ThemeLab2 is temporary, but on that I'd say the colours and such need to be changed, maybe without having just single colours for each thing. I mean, it can work, for example the current GDN layout works, but for that to be so I think the colours have to look like they "softly" transition from one to the other rather than just cut straight from one to another. That may sound weird but it's the only way I can think to say it. :P

For the soft/hard colour transitions? Well, for example, look at the current colours in this theme we have now and note how it all looks kind of well, smooth, but then look at the Simpsons theme. It just has a whole heap of colours that, while they fit with Simpsons, would be what I say looks like it just jumps from one colour to another. It's hard to explain, but my comparison would be from this theme to Simpsons, hopefully if you compare how the colours look to transition in them you'll get the idea of what I'm saying.

This is a nice reminder of how much I suck at explaining things. :P
