Is there a way, in code, to declare the transparent background color of sprites in Basic4GL?

You just need to use an image that supports transparancy like a gif or png. Look in the Basic4GL/Programs/Data folder and look at asteroid.png, its a file that supports transparancy and so its automatically transparant in the game.

Yeah, I don't think there's a way to say "specific colour = transparency" in Basic4GL. It's best to just put the transparency into your original images.
