Heh, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is one of my favourite game series' (although it looks to be heading downard from no. 4 and onwards).

I wouldn't have known Will Wright either, I just remember reading about it in the Newspaper once. I also think someone mentioned his name in the B4GL forums when they were trying to make a demo of part of Spore.

I agree… i didn't know this name either. Only Sid sticks out in my head at the moment. I guess i saw it a lot growing up.

Btw, another name that comes to mind is Tom Clansy, but this guy is an author and the games are based on the books. Also some excellent movies are based on his books. I guess these books are probably pretty good.

I think that was a name of a character in Sim City 2000 for the SNES. :) If that's really his name, I recognize his work, and new he was a designer, but I still wouldn't have known his name. —hartnell

Ok, Sid Meier's name sounds familiar. :) I'll give you that one. And let's not forget American McGee (a company / person name). To bad they / him never finished Oz. And then, there's that guy from the -shock series : BioShock, System Shock. You'd think, being a fan, I'd know who he was.

Other then that, i think i'm blank. I guess when i make my first "real" game, i'm gonna call it "u9's " :)

I was thinking, where's the fame in game design? We tend to know video game designers by their work — rather than by name. Here's how I know some famous video game designers :

The lead designer behind Final Fantasy
Hideo-something, who was responsible for Metal Gear and later Metal Gear solid. The reason I know part of his name (whether first or last name I don't know) is because he snuck it into the game.
Er…that guy who does DOA.

And that's about it. Does anyone know any famous video game designers by name? (Don't look them up.)
